Bikes in Education

Our WMS Physical Education Department is excited to participate in the Let's Go Bicycle Education Program, a statewide initiative designed to teach students bicycle riding skills, safety, and confidence while promoting lifelong physical activity. Wapato Middle School had the opportunity to host a full-day professional development training to prepare PE teachers to implement the program. Through this partnership, our school received access to 30 bicycles and helmets at no cost!
Our Semester 1 PE students are participating in a three-week bicycle education unit, where they are developing riding skills, learning bicycle safety, and building confidence on two wheels. This is an exciting opportunity for students, particularly those who may not have had previous experience riding a bicycle. We look forward to offering the same experience to our Semester 2 PE students this spring, ensuring even more students benefit from this hands-on learning opportunity!
