Volunteer Coaching Information

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer coach WMS.  We have many opportunites throughout our athletic programs for parents and community members to get involved. We recognize that volunteer coaches help build community within our school and bring experience to our students and teams.

All volunteer coaches must be approved, cleared, and complete all required tranings and certifications prior to attending practice. Below are the steps that each volunteer must take in order to start coaching. 

  1. Speak with and receive approval from the head coach of the team you plan to volunteer with.
  2. Complete a Volunteer Disclosure Form. This form can be found in the main office of the middle school. Once filled out, it can be returned to our athletic secretary Marisol Valencia. 

Once the Volunteer Disclosure Form and background check has been processed and cleared with the district office, please provide an email to the Athletic Director Dallin Maxfield and provide your email address. This will be used to register the volunteer on Final Forms to complete all required training and certifications.

  1. Final Forms Requirements
    1. Any and all WIAA sport specific trainings and rules clinics
    2. Valid CPR certification
    3. WIAA Concussion Management
    4. WIAA Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  2. WIAA Coaches School Training
    1. This training is required by the WIAA for all paid and volunteer coaches that work with students. The training covers many topics related to coaching and valid for three (3) years. The cost for the WIAA Coaches School is $71.50 to be paid by the volunteer. WIAA Coaches School Link.

Once all trainings and certifications have been uploaded and verified by the athletic director, the volunteer will be approved to begin helping with practices. If a volunteer tries to attend practice prior to being cleared, they will be asked to leave practice until they have been approved.
