School Text Messaging Opt-In Information

The Wapato School District is getting ready to add text messaging to the variety of methods it uses to communicate with families, patrons and other District stakeholders.  This system will allow the District and your child’s school to deliver important messages straight to your mobile phone.  It will be used to deliver information about upcoming events, school closings due to weather and more.  In order for you to make use of the text messaging service you will need to have a current mobile phone number on file at your child’s school and then you will need to send an “Opt-In” confirmation text from that mobile phone.  The “Opt-In” procedure is easy.  Simply text the letter “Y” or the word “Yes” to 67587.  The District has been inviting families to “opt-in” for the past couple of weeks and it will continue throughout the year.  Those families with mobile device numbers on file who do not “opt-in” prior to October 15th will automatically receive a text on October 16th inviting them to opt-in.  For those not wanting to use the text messaging service do not opt-in and do not reply to the opt-in invitation message.  If you happen to opt-in and then decide you would rather not receive text message simply text the word “STOP” to 67587.  The District will begin using the text messaging service on October 16th. It will not only provide a more convenient method for you to receive important school information it will also cut down on the number of robo-calls you have previously received from the District and your child’s school.
