Thanks to this year’s Dinner & Bilingual Information Family Night several families are better equipped to help their students improve their English language proficiency. Those who attended the event on October 3rd learned simple strategies they can use daily to work with their children in the areas of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. Each year about half the students in the District are given a test called the ELPA21. It stands for English Language Proficiency in the 21st Century. It is designed to measure how those students are progressing in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening. The results help the District determine where a student may need additional support in their journey to becoming English language proficient. Thank you to all of the families who gave of their time to attend the Dinner & Bilingual Information Family Night. Your engagement in your child’s education is a critical component to their academic success.
